Bread Rolls

Ingredients:

  • All-Purpose flour - 3 + 1/4 cup
  • Warm milk - 3/4 cup
  • Eggs - 2 large eggs + 1 large yolk
  • Oil - 1/4 cup
  • Sugar - 1/4 cup + 1 tbsp
  • Yeast - 2 + 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - 1 + 1/4 tsp
  • For egg wash: 1 egg + 1 tbsp of milk

Instructions:

  1. In the warm milk, add sugar and active dry yeast. Whisk together and let it sit for about 5 minutes until yeast looks foamy. For instant yeast, you can skip this step and mix it right into other ingredients.
  2. Combine all of the ingredients in the bowl of your mixer Wisk the egg, add the salt, oil, and flour. Add foamy yeast/instant yeast.
  3. Knead the dough with the hook attachment in a stand mixer for 3 minutes on low speed or knead by hand until smooth, about 5-10 minutes.
  4. Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with plastic wrap and let it rise for about 1.5 hours in a warm place or until doubled in size.
  5. Once the dough rises, punch down dough to remove gas. Turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and cut it into 15 pieces.
  6. Roll each piece of dough into a ball and place them onto a baking dish.
  7. Cover the rolls with plastic wrap and let them rise for 45 minutes in a warm place or until doubled in size, I placed mine in the microwave with the light on.
  8. Brush tops of rolls with egg wash.
    1. Egg wash: 1 Egg, half a cup of milk, brown sugar till desired constancy, 1-2 tablespoons.
  9. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Bake until golden brown on top, about 15-20 minutes.
  10. Set aside to cool to room temperature before serving.
